Easy Double Chocolate Bread for Grandkids

Double Chocolate for the grandkids

Well, it was Thursday morning and the grand kids were arriving on Saturday. What to do? I think all kids like chocolate. So, I found a sourdough recipe online. Off to the store I went for semi-sweets and cocoa powder. I found this recipe on the website “Farmhouse on Boone”. I really like their content and have binged their content for hours.

This was an easy bake, my sourdough Boule recipe with cocoa powder for color and semi-sweet chocolate added during the folds. I baked it in my Lodge Cast Iron Dutch Oven with two layers of parchment to prevent burning and ease removal.

Scoring

So I failed in this department. I tried to score each quad-panel with either “P” or “N” for the two kids, Phoebe and Nolan. The only problem was that I forgot to dust the bread with rice flour to make the scores stand out. Oh well…they didn’t quite get the significance anyway.

How was it?

Don’t know. It was such a busy, hectic day that we never got to it. The kids had gorged on candy and treats, leaving no room for bread. I packed up two loafs, the Double-Chocolate and the Rye in nice bread bags, and off they went. I have no idea if the two bakes were successful or total failures. Ugh. Oh well…I’ll assume the best and keep on baking. 😉
