Greetings…and welcome to my Blog! My name is John Munroe and I’m just starting my Artisan Bread journey. I’m totally hooked on baking as of late and I hope this continues for a long, long time.
Just in case you were wondering, I have absolutely no background in the kitchen. No cooking to speak of, no baking…nothing. My dinner when left alone is something I can microwave, such as a Chicken Pot Pie. Ugh…I know you’re thinking.
My real background revolves around 48 years in, around, and part of the US Navy. I joined right out of high school and did 23 years of active duty aboard nuclear submarines as a Sonar Technician. I finished a bachelor’s degree at 40 years old and promptly retired from active duty. I then started work for the DoD as an Engineer, helping to design and test the very Sonar Systems that I operated while on active duty. Finishing my career with a Masters Degree from John Hopkins, I then retired once again to pursue my hobbies and passions.
Since 10th grade of High School my real passion centers on Aviation. I have owned two airplanes and am currently building a third. I also teach flying so I’m a CFII/MEI on the side. So you see, I have absolutely no real expertise in baking, but please bear with me as I explore and learn with all of you.
